According to the South China Morning Post, Nanjing University posted the ad on the web on the first day of China’s National College Entrance Test. The ad features six students from the university campus with separate placards.
These banners are spread on China’s in-house social media. People objected to the fact that the university deliberately handed out posters to the girls. No such obscene words were written on the payment cards held in the hands of the boys while inaccurate words were written on the banners given to the girls.
Following the criticism, the university apologized and removed the ad. NGOs working for gender equality in China are also protesting.
