After being seen “scrolling” on a piece of glass while claiming to be the “new Nokia transparent phone,” a woman became popular on TikTok.
The woman is seen standing in a line in a store, staring down at what looks to be a piece of clear glass while fumbling with her fingers as if she were scrolling through a smartphone in the video, which was posted by TikTok founder CatGPT. “I’m sorry, WTF IS THAT???” was the caption.
Truth Behind Nokia Transparent Phone in a Viral TikTok Video:
Comments from users poured in, with some asserting that the gadget was a “Nokia Clear Phone” that was purportedly worth €35,000. Others claimed that they even looked up whether Nokia had released a transparent phone online.
Nokia has not, however, announced any plans for such a phone, and their most recent officially issued models in 2025—manufactured under license from HMD Global—are far more conventional.
These include the Nokia 235 4G, the Nokia 2660 Flip, and the Nokia 3210 (2024), a reimagining of the classic 1999 model with 4G, Bluetooth, and longer battery life.
The woman quickly dispelled the mystery when she revealed in a subsequent video that the gadget she was carrying was a “methaphone,” which is a piece of acrylic shaped like an iPhone.

“The inventor and creator of these is actually my friend, and he told me that he wanted to test the idea that if we are all so dependent on our phones, could you possibly stop someone’s addiction by substituting something that feels exactly like having a phone in your pocket?” she explained.

According to her, the methaphone struck a chord with millions of people because it “feels like a physical artefact that directly responds to this collective tension we all feel about how our devices, which are meant to make us more connected, are actually having the exact opposite effect.” She also stated that she frequently makes remarks about the impact of technology on society.
